Description

yay for full body pictures!

ok so heres the low-down on the costume:

concept is completely an original idea by me - came up with the armor first, clothing second.

Helm - constructed off a bicycle helmet, fits well enough where I don't need the chin straps to keep it on. Built up using cardboard and MASKING TAPE (don't underestimate the stuff!), and partially covered in about 3 packs of paper clay, then sprayed with a resin type spray. Jewel was cast in resin (first time doing resin casting!), so despite not coming out as perfectly as I hoped, it came out well for my first time doing it.

chest plate - inspired by the chest section on Slifer where it's arms are. First time doing wings (thick foamies sandwiched together with wire inside). Still need to add front 2 spikes.

blades - based these off a traditional Egyptian khopesh and tweaked the design to my liking. Made out of wood, sanded to shape, and covered in bondo.

tunic - tried to go for a more Egyptian look, as the theme is huge in Yugioh. Black stripe down the middle references to Slifer's black stomach coloring, and the cloth that hangs down in the back from the belt representative of the tail.

The debut at CBF was a test run, as much still needs to be added to the costume. The swords need cloth wrapping on the handles and tassles attached to the ends, the helm needs teeth added to it (as well as repainted and sealed >< damn hot weather caused the paint to chip in some places..), and I'm also adding clawed gauntlets that go up to about the elbow.

Lots of firsts with this costume - making armor, doing wings, and resin casting, so it was one huge learning experience XD might remake the chest plate out of wonderflex if I have enough (I need to keep some left over to eventuall make my Tres Iqus pauldrons).

hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did making it =D

Did you have to purchase the resin off line or were you able to get it through your local craft store like Michael's or AC Moore? Just curious for future projects. :)
